The African tech scene has witnessed an explosion of innovation and growth in recent years with several impressive startups springing up all across the continent, a staggering influx of global talent and over 5 billion dollars raised in investment. From artificial intelligence, to the Internet of things, and blockchain, we are spotlighting Africans using technologies in exciting ways to solve everyday problems and foster inclusivity.

With a plethora of success stories on how these innovations are winning in Africa’s rather complex markets and first hand insight from investors with track records of investing on the continent, on October 18th, our guest speakers entreat us to why Silicon Valley should pay closer attention to what’s happening in the African tech scene. A unique opportunity to foster mutually beneficial collaborations, share lessons from both sides and enjoy a taste of African culture.

 

Panel Discussion: African Business Success Stories

We are excited to have Chika Nwobi (Founder/CEO Decagon) and Olugbenga GB Agboola (Founder/CEO Flutterwave) confirmed to speak on a panel that will discuss African Business Success Stories

– Chika Nwobi (Decagon) – A serial entrepreneur, Chika started Decagon in 2018 as Nigeria needed to cater to the explosion and growth of software engineers and tech talent. Decagon aims to address the underrepresentation of black people in tech globally, starting with Nigeria. The West African country is the most populous on the continent and the most populous black nation globally. Decagon raised millions to finance and train software engineers

– Olugbenga GB Agboola (Founder/CEO Flutterwave) – A serial entrepreneur with a software engineering background and an MBA, Flutterwave is a post Series A payments technology company headquartered in San Francisco with operations and offices across Africa and Europe. Flutterwave was launched over two years ago with the goal to build digital payments infrastructure for Africa and enable businesses receive or make any payments across Africa and globally. In two years of operations, Flutterwave has processed over $2B across all product platforms and has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including the “Best Technology Platform” as awarded by The Asian Banker, the “Top 100 Fintech Firms” among others.
